The 9th Inning XP Path arrived in MLB The Show 26 Diamond Dynasty on October 23, giving players a long list of rewards to chase. If you’re planning how to spend your MLB 26 stubs, take a look at the path first: it includes player cards, packs, and currency along the way. The biggest decision comes at 275,000 XP, where you’ll pick either Ted Williams or Chipper Jones from the Boss Choice Pack.
Choosing Your Boss
You get one player from the pack, not both, so think about the position your lineup needs most. Williams is a 99 OVR Milestone Series left fielder for Boston. He’s got 125 Contact against pitchers on both sides, plus 103 Power against lefties and 125 against righties. Add 125 Vision and Clutch, and he’s a tempting pick if you want a dependable bat. Jones is a 99 OVR Signature Series third baseman for Atlanta. If third base is the bigger gap, check his attributes in the game before making your choice.
Rewards Along the Way
The 35-step path starts at 3,000 XP and runs through 275,000 XP. Two 99 OVR Negro Leagues Series players are available before the boss pack: starting pitcher Smokey Joe Williams at 47,500 XP and shortstop Willie Wells at 160,000 XP. Neither affects your boss selection. You’ll also pick up packs and Stubs at various stops, including a Deluxe Moonshot Pack at 62,500 XP and a Live Series 88+ Pack at 230,000 XP. The path awards 8,750 Stubs in total, so those smaller payouts do add up.
Mission Planning
The four launch missions offer 24,500 XP combined. Get 15 hits on any difficulty for 4,000 XP, earn 500 Parallel XP with Cornerstone Series players for 5,500 XP, hit 20 extra-base hits with 2026 Postseason Series players for 7,500 XP, and record 25 strikeouts with The Show Classics Series pitchers for another 7,500 XP. Set your lineup and rotation before you start. Conquest and Mini Seasons are among the eligible modes, so you can work on objectives while earning gameplay XP. Check card series labels carefully; cards from the same program don’t necessarily count for the same mission.
Make the Most of Your Progress
If you already have both 8th Inning bosses, Ken Griffey Jr. and Roy Campanella, their collection provides an optional 30,000 XP voucher for this path. Collecting both 9th Inning bosses has a different payoff: 1,000 XP and a 30,000 XP voucher for the 10th Inning. Don’t count that voucher toward your current grind. More missions were scheduled for October 30, so check the live list before settling into a routine. Whether you’re saving rewards or considering cheap MLB 26 stubs, knowing which players you want makes the climb feel a lot more manageable.
